This area is ideal for a family holiday in Spain as it offers everything you need - from great self-catering accommodation to restaurants, bars and fun activities for all ages.

So if you are planning a visit, we would like to recommend a few places that you should not miss in Orihuela Costa...

1. Playa Flamenca

Located near the vibrant town of Torrevieja, Playa Flamenca is home to beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters that are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Playa Flamenca has a great flat promenade for walking and is ideal for children on scooters or ice skates, with several bars and cafes. You can also find zumba classes, concerts and other events on the promenade of Playa Flamenca during the summer months.

There is a shopping center nearby with a wide selection of restaurants and bars for every taste, so you are guaranteed to find a place to enjoy the evening to the fullest.

2. Cabo Roig

Cabo Roig has a picturesque harbor where you can take a lovely walk along the beach promenade in either direction. You can also relax on the sandy beaches, have a drink at Chringuito, rent a boat or participate in various water sports in the summer.

A short distance from the beach is a long strip of bars, restaurants, fast food, as well as souvenir and beach shops. Ideal for those looking for nightlife.

3. La Zenia

With the most popular and largest shopping center Zenia Boulevard, La Zenia is known as a great location for shopping, dining and entertainment as well as relaxing on the beach. La Zenia beach offers several beautiful beaches and amazing restaurants overlooking the sea, where you can rent a sunbed and enjoy the whole day.

La Zenia beach is one of our favorite places to visit on the Orihuela Costa as we love to walk along the long promenade that stretches all the way to Cabo Roig.

4. Torrevieja

Located right next to Orihuela Costa, Torrevieja is a vibrant city with a lot to offer. Visit the historic pink salt lakes, stroll along the boardwalk lined with bars and restaurants, enjoy a day at the beach and experience the lively atmosphere of downtown. There is also an open air mall called Habaneras.

In the immediate vicinity of the city of Torrevieja there are two huge lakes Laguna de La Mata y Torrevieja, one is blue called Laguna de La Mata and the other is pink or Laguna de Torrevieja. Around the lakes you can meet flamingos, storks, ducks and lots of other salt-loving animals. The occurrence of salt lakes in combination with salty air from the coast creates a specific climate that has a beneficial effect on health.

5. Alicante

You have to visit the wonderful Alicante - a city full of sun, sea and unforgettable experiences! You should definitely not miss this city.

If you are staying on the Orihuela Costa, you must make a day trip to the city of Alicante. Explore the Santa Barbara Castle, visit the Explanada de España, shop, eat and soak up the lively atmosphere of the old town and the inner market.

6. Elche

The nearby city of Elche is famous for its palm grove (Palmeral) and the UNESCO monument - Elche Palm Grove. It is the largest palm grove in Europe, with around 300,000 date palms.

Furthermore, explore the historic city center, visit the Archaeological Museum, shop, eat and sit down for a coffee in one of the beautiful squares.

7. Guardamar del Segura

About 8 km south of Orihuela Costa is the beautiful seaside town of Guardamar del Segura. Here you will find amazing beaches next to sand dunes and pine forests. Reina Sofia Park and Guardamar Castle are just a few of the popular attractions worth visiting, and the night market and pilgrimage in the summer months are always a hit with tourists and locals alike.

In Guardamar del Segura there are 11 kilometers of beautiful sandy beaches, which are lined with extensive pine groves and wild sand dunes. Even in high season, the beach is exceptionally crowded. The most famous local beaches include, for example, Tusales, Los Viveros, Babylon, La Roqueta and Moncayo.
