The palm grove "Palmeral" is the name of a World Heritage site located in the Spanish city of Elche. It is the largest palm grove in Europe, with around 300,000 date palms. They were planted already in the time of the Moors, and today Elche is the largest exporter of palm trees in Europe.

Due to its uniqueness, the palm grove was inscribed as Palmeral de Elche on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.

Currently, the park is divided into several parts: the city park, Huerto del Cura gardens, Huerto de la Torre, Hort del Gat and others.

In the most famous and widely visited Huerto del Cura, in addition to palm trees, lemon trees, orange trees, pomegranate trees, olive trees, black bamboos and many types of cacti grow. Here you will meet peacocks, ducks and turtles. The biggest attraction of this botanical garden is the palm tree, from the trunk of which seven others grow.

Elche, the palm heart of Spain and Europe. Less than 20 kilometers from Alicante or about 40 minutes by car from the apartment. That's why it probably won't surprise anyone that the date palm has become the main symbol of the city.
