Tabarca Island - Isla de Tabarca, also Nueva Tabarca or Isla Plana, is an island in the Mediterranean Sea that is an administrative part of the Spanish city of Alicante, 22 km away. Take a day trip to this beautiful island, which is 1,800 m long and 450 m wide at its maximum.

It is home to around sixty inhabitants, making it the smallest inhabited island in Spain. The island is a popular tourist attraction thanks to its historic architecture, clean beaches and the local dish of caldero fish and rice.

The city is surrounded by walls, which also surround the church of St. Peter and St. Paul from the 18th century.
Since 1986, the coast of the island has been a protected reserve due to its diversity of marine flora and fauna.

Clear waters and colorful underwater fauna (sea lion, grouper, sea eel, starfish, sea turtle, etc.) make the island an extremely attractive snorkeling location.

On the island you will find many romantic small restaurants and several souvenir shops.

We recommend taking a boat taxi from the town of Santa Pola and you are on the island of Tabarca in 20 minutes. The journey from the apartment to the town of Santa Pola takes about 40 minutes.
